Batting Lessons Are Not Cheap - Are You Listening Mom and Dad?

Is It Time For Hitting Lessons?

Your son is starting to play competitive baseball. Or he is now done with tee ball and coaches pitch and moving up to kid pitch. Or maybe he has played a few years of kid pitch and now the pitchers are throwing a little harder. Whatever your situation, you know it is time for some hitting lessons.

How Much Do They Cost?

Everything has a cost associated with it. Around where I live the going rate for individual lessons is $50 for a half hour. A package of seven lessons is $300. A group rate for 5 players together is $250 an hour. And these instructors are busy. Most kids only need a few lessons to understand the batting techniques the instructors are teaching. But kids have short memories, and the only way to get better is to practice with the proper batting mechanics. This means continuous lessons, and continuous cost.

Will The Coach Of The Team Help?

Maybe you are thinking the coaches on the team will work with your son. Most little league teams have between eleven to fifteen players. They practice two or three times a week. Not alot of individual time for each player. And these practices are usually for fielding and base running. Maybe the team goes to the batting cages on Saturday morning. Again, how much time does one player out of fifteen get at these practices.

Who Is The Best Instructor For My Son?

You are the best teacher for your son. You can work with him every night or every weekend. You can watch and remember his every at bat during a game. To you he is the most important player on the team, and the one you watch most closely. You already have the high cost of bats, gloves, uniforms, the team, and more. Why not save a lot of money and learn some hitting tips and get your son out in the back yard. Or take him to the cages where he will get one on one training from you. When he gets that big hit to win the game, you will feel even more proud, and you will have more money in your pocket.

But I Know Little About Hitting Techniques
That is ok. All of us know the game of baseball, the rules and basic strategies, but few of us know the finer details of hitting, fielding or pitching. But many of the experts will share their tips. The internet is a great place to find all the information you need. Information that you learn and then teach to your son. You are going to save a lot of money, and you will get to spend some real quality time with your son. Get started.

Baseball Tips on Hitting - The Most Common Hitting Problem at Any Level of Play

If you have what is referred to as a "quick hip," please forgive my bluntness but you will have no chance of being a successful baseball hitter.

Only on an inside pitch, can you get away with opening the front hip a little bit early.

A "quick hip" is when the front hip opens a fraction of a second early. It is a common hitting problem and a very serious one for many hitters at all levels of play. The swing itself should force the front hip open.

If the hip is a fraction of a second too quick, it forces your front side to open too early and this is a recipe for disaster for a baseball player at any level of play.

Three Major Problems Occur if You Have A Quick Hip:

1. You will not see the ball well. Your head will go along for the ride with your "quick hip" and you will be looking at the ball out of the corner of your eyes when the moment of truth arrives and you attempt to actually hit the ball.

2. Your power will be lost. You will be leaning toward third base if you are a right-handed hitter or toward first base if you are a left-handed hitter. That is NOT where the hitting is taking place. The hitting is taking place in front of you, not to the left or right of you.

3. Your plate coverage will be POOR. The only pitch you'll be able to hit with any success at all is the inside pitch and low and away pitches will cause many problems for you as a baseball hitter.

I wonder how much young players who are struggling at the plate would improve considerably if they made this fairly simple adjustment at the plate.

Keeping the front hip closed is one of the best baseball tips on hitting you will ever hear.

How common is the hitting problem of having a "quick hip"? You can check it out for yourself.

When watching a game live in person or on TV at any level of play, observe the weaker hitters. (The ones who are batting .220, .230 or .240) Keep an eye on their front hip. In almost all cases, it will be opening too early.

On the other side of the coin, you can also check out the better hitters. They will be keeping their front hip closed!

Baseball Tips on Hitting - Hitting Problem Against Tough Low and Away Strikes

When trying to overcome any baseball hitting struggles, you should always look for the "easy fix" first before getting more complicated. Here is a list of things to try if low and away pitches are causing baseball hitting problems for you:

• The two most obvious reasons can be you are standing too far away from the plate or maybe your bat is not long enough and you cannot effectively reach the pitch over the outside corner. Like I said, we always start out simple.

• You may be opening your front side too early, one of the most common baseball hitting problems for hitters at any level. It simply means that you are opening up too quickly and are pulling away from where the hitting is taking place. It simply takes you too far away from the pitch, especially pitches over the outside portion of the plate. Baseball hitting is not taking place out toward the third base coach if you are a right-handed hitter or by the first base coach if you are a left-handed hitter. The hitting is taking place right in front of you and not to the side. You can try striding with your front foot closed instead of pointing straight out across from your body or even worse yet toward the pitcher. In other words, turn the toes on your front foot and point them a little bit back toward the catcher. This will encourage you to "stay closed" and not "fly open" and away from the pitch. Baseball hitting does not take place out toward third base or out toward first base. It takes place right in front of you. Please, stay closed

• You can try bending at the waist if you are not bending already or bend a little more if you are bending already. This will give you better extension and better plate coverage of the outside corner simply because you will be closer to it.
